Why am applying for NHS? Well, because it’s an honor (hence the name). This organization is something I’ve wanted to be a part of for a long time. Back in middle school, I was part of NJHS and it was a great experience. It opened me to new ideas, got me more involved with my community, as well as got to meet new people who shared the same interests as me. That organization made such a big impact on me, which makes me want to join NHS, because I want to be able to gain more leadership experience, use this as a motivation to do well academically, be more involved with the community since you require community work, and also have colleges look at me and think “Wow, she was part of the NHS. That’s amazing!” Describing your character is one of the hardest things to do, because you can …show more content…
When I’m the leader, I make sure everything is perfect, well at least close to it. For me, either it comes out as something great or it doesn’t come out at all. An example is with a group project, I like to take charge of the project because I know that if I lead, then it to come out neat and organized and not look like it was done in 10 minutes. Not saying that my partners don’t know what they’re doing, it’s just I like it done a certain way. I will of course ask for their input, put people in charge of stuff, and expect them to help, but I like being the one who puts everything together. An example of me being a terrible leader was with UNICEF last year. We got no projects in, not saying it was all cause of me but I blame myself because I should’ve tried harder. The co-president and I would come up with project ideas but every single time we did, our sponsor would shut our ideas down. But this year, the co-president and I are really being leaders now because around next year we are starting a student tutoring project for the school, and trust me there will be a whole lot to make up for the mistakes made last

One of the times I have made a leadership mistake is when I was d1·illing a group of cadets and I failed to call a command on the correct step. You could either sit there and just acknowledge your mistake, which isn't enough, or you…

The Accidental Leader: What to Do When You’re Suddenly in Charge Being a leader can happen to any one of us at any time. When we are given the role of being a leader it often paints a different image of what we look like to others based on the fact that we are in charge. We never know when a situation will arise that will call us to step up to the challenge of leading a group of a few people or a whole division of a company. The word leader can often make seem overwhelming to a lot of people but after reading Harvey Robbins’s and Michael Finley’s The Accidental Leader you no longer have to question what to do when you’re suddenly in charge. I would’ve never thought reading book on leadership would ever be helpful, after all I always thought leadership came from learning from experience, not from a book.…

Being leader doesn’t mean being the boss of everybody, that’s a completely different thing. Leading is actually working with the people and going through everything together, you don’t watch them do everything while you tell them what to do.…
