Ninetales: A Short Story

Being a member of the high standing Todd family called for timeless beauty, and nothing less. Mostly consisting of Ninetales with a few other types of pokemon (example being Natalia’s cousin who was a flareon) spread through their ancestry, only those deemed beautiful and worthy enough could be married into the family. The family had a long history that could date back centuries do to the long age of most ninetales. Change was a hard thing to come by in this family, tradition was key. One of these traditions was how Natalia’s parents met, Conrad and Sylvia. An arranged marriage was formed between the two ninetales from a young age. The cute Vulpix was the apple of their eyes for the first few years of her life. It made them feel young again, perhaps it was a blessing, living a long life made many things that seemed exciting trivial in their eyes. However she was still raised to be an educated lady, her family had strict teachings and methods. Everyday from the age of 8 was the same thing, dance lessons, music lessons, Math, English, History, the list goes on. She was dressed in tight laced dresses everyday to show off her pretty frame. It wasn’t that she hated everything, she didn’t mind learning, it was the fact that it felt as if it was shoved down her throat. It didn’t help that she had an elder brother who had set the standards extremely high. She tried to end it on several occasions but he wouldn’t let her go.
Things began to escalate and her parents couldn’t ignore it anymore. Money was disappearing and there daughter was almost never home. It wasn’t until one night when their daughter at age 16 was brought home by the police that they truly became aware of what their daughter had been up to. She was almost like a different person in their eyes, what had they missed in such a short time. She was put on house arrest by her parents, forbidden to leave. Rumors began to spread about her activities and soon after the family of the boy she was engaged to called off the marriage, they wanted nothing to do with a delinquent.
Natalia’s parents didn’t know what to do with her, she would spit out venomous remarks at them and curse her family. They couldn’t take her behavior for much longer. It was brought to their attention by a family friend to send her to St. Mortiel, it was a prestigious school and they suggested it might get her back in
