Nil Lynne Matson Analysis

In the novel Nil, written by Lynne Matson she describes a 17 year old girl by the name of Charlee. This novel has been written in present, which means that everything is up to date when you're; almost has a journal. Charlee was just your average teenage girl, she was just planning on going to college with her best friends. She also had A’s in each of her classes. As Charlee was getting to leave to target to return clothes unexpected happened. She opened her door and Charlee described almost like a tornado was coming towards her. She soon wakes up and realizes that she is on an island. Charlee was bare naked. Charlee was lost. She didn’t know she got on this island or main question, how to get off. However, she did find a group of teenagers …show more content…
As Charlee was looking for gates for Thad, Charlee was 10 feet away from one. Thad pushed Charlee into a gate because he cares more about her and he sacrifices his chance. Charlee wakes up laying on her bed and tells her parents that she has amnesia because she didn’t want her parents thinking that she was going crazy so she kept it to herself and didn’t mention it anyone. When she got to her laptop she tried looking up Thad up. The first result that had came up was his age, his full name and that he was missing. Charlee wanted to tell the cops were Thad and the other groups of teenagers were they were at but Charlee just couldn’t because she didn’t even know where the island was at. On Thad last day, he found one last gate and took it. Then Charlee and Thad reunited once again.
I believe that the theme of the novel Nil was survival because it’s thinking outside of the box and trying to put others needs first before yours. A group of teenagers from 14- 18 years old get stuck on island for 365 days, killing for food protecting themselves from wild animals and find shelter to rest. Thad risked his life to save Charlee’s life. Not knowing if your going to make it makes you very brave of Thad to make that decision. I enjoyed my summer reading novel, it was interesting and exciting. If I can read this book I would

An important theme in this book is “Things will not be as bad as you think they will be.” I think this theme fits the book “Al Capone Does My Shirts” because it falls under the category of change. Moose Flanagan and his family moved from Santa Monica, California to Alcatraz, an island filled with criminals. That is a big change for a 12 year old. Moose felt upset when he moved.…

In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, conflict - both internal and external - portrays a major development in the theme and plot of the young boys in this novel. On an island composed of only pre-adolescent boys, it is unquestionable that there would be conflict amongst them. Golding blatantly shows the reader the external conflicts that occur between one another, including both physical and verbal altercations. The author also cryptically gives the reader a display of the conflict the boys struggle with within themselves and their own thoughts. Despite the many instances of external conflict, the subtle internal conflicts are much more critical to the plot and overall theme of Lord of the Flies.…

Susan McClary believed, that as film and media continue the discourse on gender identities today, early-modern opera was a pioneer in the construction of gender identities to the public sphere. The construction of gender became necessary when presented portrayals of the world had to differentiate between male or female characters, as one sex could play the other. These constructions were shaped by the time and place in which the work was presented. The issue on how to represent women was controversial during Monteverdi’s time as perspectives on the female rhetoric were divided. McClary analyses Monteverdi’s L'Orfeo and believes that men had a more provocative stage presence while women had to have an innocent portrayal to remain attractive…

To Kill A Mockingbird connects to the reader in many ways one would not expect. In this book, Harper Lee shows many diverse themes such as empathy, loss of innocence, innocent victims, courage, and prejudice.
