Nikola Tesla was born on July 10, 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia. Because his mom was an inventor of household appliances, he began to find an interest in electricity when young. In 1854, Edison’s family moved to Port Huron, Michigan, where he went to a public school for three months and was home-schooled from then on due to his hyperactivity. At the age of 15, Edison began to excel as a telegrapher. Edison’s first advancement in his inventing career began in 1869 with the Universal Stock Printer. He continue to develop popularity with his direct current system and the production of the light bulb in the 1880s.
Nikola Tesla, as I believe, was the more influential of the two. After leaving Edison, Tesla obtain sponsors to support his research in an alternating-current electrical system. George Westinghouse, who sought involvement in the operation, wanted to supply America with long-distance power. In order to advertise the new product, Tesla provided lighting for the 1893 Chicago Fair, where his invention was observed by the public.
In 1895, in addition to the alternating current, Tesla designed the first hydroelectric power plant, located in Niagara Falls. The new found technology, was utilized by those around the world and the alternating current became far more favorable compared to Edison’s direct current system.
