In the time of the Progressive Era there were many people making many different contributions to society. These contributions helped to make life easier, safer, and better for those living in America at the time. One of these people to help was Nikola Tesla, who created many different inventions including alternating current systems. Nikola Tesla achieved many great things in his life through preparation and the push of his motivation.
Motivation
Nikola Tesla had to have a reason for inventing the things he did, a motivation that pushed him to achieve his accomplishments. Tesla’s mother was able to invent many different items for their household even though she was illiterate and this may be where Tesla gets his knack for inventing

Tesla knew how to solve the problem of the sparks being emitted from the direct-current motor so he worked until he was able find an alternative. These are some of the things that motivated and pushed
Tesla to invent the things he did.
Preparation

In order to achieve his accomplishments Tesla needed not only motivation but preparation too. “In 1871, when Tesla was fifteen, he attended the higher secondary school at
Karlovac, Croatia. After four years, Tesla moved to Graz, Austria, to attend the higher technical school or polytechnic institute in 1875”(Narins, ed., 2008). Tesla had a large amount of education to help him refine his inventing skills. Tesla had a great understanding of technology and was gifted when it came to the use of it.. “Tesla worked all night fixing the ship’s dynamos, and Edison was so impressed he hired the young immigrant he referred to as ‘our parisian’”
(Bailey, 2010). Tesla was given a task to complete by Thomas Edison as a test to see what the young inventor could do. Tesla passed Edison’s test and was able to secure himself a job with the achieved inventor. This gave Tesla more opportunity to work on his inventions and helped
