Ever heard of Nikola Tesla? You probably haven't heard of him: Have you ever heard of the Tesla? Probably haven't heard of it either. Have you been living under a rock ?? (No disrespect). Nikola Tesla was a better inventor than Thomas Edison, in this essay I will be telling you why he as a better inventor and about Nikola Tesla life. First of all, let's setup the setting and the scene as if it was an actual movie. Nikola Tesla was born on July 10, 1856, in Smiljan, Lika, which was then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, present-day Croatia. His family, later on, moved to the U.S.A..He was 1 out of 5 children, his father was a priest and his mother managed the family's farm. in 1863 Tesla’s brother Daniel was killed in a riding accident. …show more content…
Their feud started when Edison hired Tesla. Edison thought tesla's ideas were “splendid” but “utterly impractical”. They would bump heads as they were both different in the way they worked and did their studies. The bet; Tesla said that he could expand the productivity of Edison's prototypical dynamos, Edison eventually gave him a chance to attempt it. Edison even guaranteed him $50,000 on the off chance that he succeeded. Tesla worked all day and all night for a while and gained a lot of ground. When Tesla proved him wrong and went to ask for his reward, Edison told him the offer was a joke, saying, "When you turn into an undeniable American, you will value an American joke” (Tesla was not an official U.S. citizen). Edison offered a $10/week raise. Ever prideful, Tesla quit, and spent the following couple of months looking for a job eventually making his own company “Tesla Electric Company”. Later on, George Westinghouse became interested in the idea of alternating current; as it might be able to provide long-distance energy to the nation. In 1888 he purchased patents from Tesla for a sum of $50,000 in cash. This put Tesla and Westinghouse in competition with an Edison as he tried to sell his direct current system to the nation. This was the beginning of the current wars. In 1893 Westinghouse was powering the city of Chicago and in 1895 Tesla created the hydro dam in Niagara falls which was powering the city buffalo, new york. Tesla also was a pioneer of radar technology, X-ray technology, remote control and the rotating magnetic field on the basis of most AC machinery. Edison never really invented anything on his own in my opinion. He just stole inventions from others and called it his own. The light bulb was going to be invented one way or another even if Edison never

Tesla met with George Westinghouse, whom had also been in a rivalry with Edison, and sold his patents to him for about $1,000,000. Since George Westinghouse also considered Edison a rival of his, him and Tesla worked together to improve their Alternating Current (AC) technology. They took their improved patent to the Chicago World Fair in 1893. They used their AC system to light up the fair for $399,000 instead of the General Electric Company’s (Thomas Edison and J.P. Morgan) direct current. Edison and Morgan had bidden $554,000.…

Yet, even the most ingenious minds always seem to be accompanied by a touch of madness. Responsible for the radio, x-ray machine, and many other innovations, Nikola Tesla receives almost no credit for his master mind. Even though he was not recognized for his works, he still kept pursuing his dream primarily to create a better world for man-kind to inhabit. Nikola Tesla, known only as a footnote in the history of engineering, has shaped our modern day interactions by his dedication to doing the “impossible.” How a man is raised will not only impact him, but those who are prominent in his life too. Well, let me start off by saying that both Tesla and Edison had many inventions that changed the world in a way. They both to me in my opinion were the utmost ingenious people to put forth ideas that no one else would of thought before. If it weren't for them both we won't be holding some of the stuff that we have today, like our phones and instead of electricity something else like candle power. I would love to be an apprentice on their side for either Edison or Tesla because it would have been so facinatincting to see how they created these inventions that are in our life today. Now, Edison was Born on February 11, 1847, in Milan, Ohio, he rose from a humble beginning to work as an inventor of technology.…
