This link sends you to a short biography about Nikola Tesla. Nikola Tesla got encouraged by his mom to start his career. He started his career by going to America by boat and he was hired by Thomas Edison to do basic electrical engineering. Soon after that, he started redesigning the direct current generators that ran Edison’s business. Then Edison offered Tesla $50,000 for the new improvements on the generators. After Tesla’s work was done, Edison claimed that he wasn’t serious about the offer for the new generator. So then Tesla moved on to team up with George Westinghouse to commercialize the new invention of alternating currents. This was a strong competition with Thomas Edison’s direct currents and Westinghouse’s alternating currents.

The first invention on my list is the alternating current. The alternating current was suppose to be more safe and reliable than the direct current, and it was. The alternating current was proven to no dangers at a much lesser cost. While Thomas Edison’s direct current had many dangers to it, including very serious electrical shocks. The generator was said to burn down many houses. So many of the customers chose Tesla’s alternating current over Edison’s direct current. This angered Edison because the direct current generator is what he build his business off of. The second important invention was that Tesla found out how light can be harnessed and distributed. He made his bulbs by bending glass tubes and created the first neon signs. The third invention is x-rays. Nikola Tesla researched the entire range of electromagnetic and ionizing radiation. Tesla played a central role in medical diagnostic by this invention. The invention originated in one of his famous beliefs.”from his belief that everything we need to understand the universe is virtually around us at all times, but we need to use our minds to develop real-world devices to augment our innate perception of existence.” To me, this basically means that we need to use our minds to create devices that will change not only our lives but everyone else’s.
