Born in 1856, the Serbian-American resident of the town of Smiljan, which is in present day Croatia, was set on track for greatness. His father, a humble priest, however, his mother had a crafty hand for household tools and mechanical appliances which may have played a great influence on Tesla’s future creative inventions. Initially, Nikola Tesla invented the coil with the intention to use it for wireless transmission of electricity, however, due to its impracticality, most investors refused to keep supporting any further work. This did not mean the Tesla coil went to waste. In fact, the Tesla coil was used for a great part in radio transmission even so that we still use this technique till today. Many inventors such as Marconi, took credit for inventing the radio, but were never given true recognition because Tesla had come up with the idea first.
Tesla can also be credited with the invention of light distribution. In simpler terms, he created fluorescent bulbs and made the very first neon light sign which were both 40 years before industries began making them. Suffering from Cholera in his teen years rebounded on him and he became a clean freak having overly excessive cleaning habits and steering away from dirt. Like most clever minds, Tesla rarely slept. He would have cases of insomnia and dealt with a great deal of Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. He was obsessed with the number 3 and disliked round objects as well as could not dare to touch hair and be around people wearing pearls. He would use exactly 18 napkins to clean the dining room before having dinner. Tesla was also known as a polyglot. He could speak 8 different languages. He also was both a humanist and an environmentalist. He believed in figuring out ways to preserve resources and prevent them from running out quickly.
