Low prices are the low hanging fruit so to speak and any company can provide that assuming they have access to the same products. Where each company will have to differentiate itself is in the "extra" aspects of doing business. Customer service, the way they treat their customer, the ease of doing business with the company, in the case of a retailer how clean is the store, how well organized is the stock. The mission statement is not short or memorable, and not very specific but I would say that is sharply focused on providing good service and value. There isn 't a specific thing a customer can expect to gain from reading the statement and it 's too long to be memorable. Nike 's mission statement isn 't very specific. Exactly how it intends to motive and inspire is not clear nor is it clear in what way Nike intends to do these things. Nike 's mission statement is short and memorable, if not catchy. By virtue of its length and the emotion it conveys it is both these things. The statement is not sharply focused however mainly because it is too vague. A mission statement should let the reader know what products and/or services the company produces and it should also let the reader know how and why it is unique and different from others in the same market (Abraham, 2012).
Is the mission statement clear and easily understood? The statement is easily understood. What can easily be determined by reading the statement is that Home Depot intends to provide service with a smile so to speak. In other words, they intend to make the shopping experience pleasant for the customer and give him/her value for the time and money
