NIKE is a global company, headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, involved in as the world’s leading designer, marketer and distributor of athletic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories for a variety of sports and fitness activities. NIKE sells its products under its own brand, as well as, Air Jordan, Nike Blazers, Nike+ Air, Force 1, Nike Dunk, Air Max ,Nike Skateboarding, and subsidiaries including Brand Jordan, Hurley International and Converse. Starting the way from the mission statement “If you have a body, you are an athlete, the company’s main objectives to minimize environmental footprint, transform manufacturing and unleash human potential.

There are different types of diversification. Accordingly, NIKE INC implements related-constrained diversification, because all the businesses it operates share a significant number of inputs, distribution channels, production technologies, similar customers and so forth and less than 70% of a firm’s revenue comes from a single-product lines- $18.3 billion revenues, 59.7% of the total, from the footwear segment and 40.3% from minor segments respectively.
By acquiring one of the industry’s hottest brands Hurley, Nike Inc. could break into the expanding market for surf, skate and snowboard clothes by means of diversification of their product categories. Manager of Hurley decided to sell the company to the sneaker giant NIKE, because NIKE could help the company to build the brand and expand internationally.
Moreover, in 2003, the Company purchased Converse Inc., headquartered in North Andover, Massachusetts, which designs and distributes athletic and casual footwear, apparel, and accessories under the Converse, Chuck Taylor, All Star, One Star brand names.
