Reebok was founded in the year 1895 as a shoe company, called J.W Foster and Sons, and distributed shoes across the United Kingdom. The company was renamed “Reebok” in 1958 from a South African dictionary, which refers to a type of African antelope. Reebok designed the Reebok Freestyle aerobics shoe which was the first athletic shoe for women. In the 1980s, the company introduced sports clothing and accessories.
