Nike Shorts Should Be Banned In School

Improved Essays
Do your Nike shorts bring all the boys to the yard? No seriously, do boys show up on your front porch the instant you slip on a pair of athletic shorts? The answer to my question is probably a no, but obviously they attract too much attention to be worn by any female at school. Nike shorts should be allowed in school because it is important to be comfortable while you are learning. Almost every teenage girl has a pair of Nike running shorts. Some may think that they are inappropriate, but they are only innapropriate if made inappropriate. A normal pair of Nike shorts on me is usually half a centimeter shorter than my fingertips, meaning they are not necessarily that short. Most people will end up rolling the waistband of their shorts to …show more content…
Yes, I know leggings are comfortable and to some people jeans are comfortable, but I think what you are wearing at school plays a major role in how you perform academically. I play volleyball, and everyday before my school day starts I have offseason athletics. It is crazy how much a thirty minute workout can make me sweat buckets. With that in mind, I believe that Nike shorts should be allowed because with the fifteen minuets we have to get ready for school, I use at least eight of them trying to put pants on. I know that that only relates to the girls in athletics, but maybe academically girls grades would be better, if instead of waking up early to get ready, they could sleep in, or use the time in the morning to study if Nike’s were allowed. I know that my life would be a lot simpler if I could spend those eight minutes doing something other than attempting to put pants on. If Nike shorts were allowed, I could stay in the same pair, or quickly change pairs and have time to spare. A large problem in Texas is the weather. From March to October the temperature does not get lower than seventy-five degrees, meaning the second you walk outside, you die. At least I die. Usually the school is hot too and nothing is worse than sweating in a stuffy classroom for eight hours. You are probably wondering about winter. Who cares if it is snowing? If I had the privilege to wear Nike shorts at school I definitely would. Funny story… On the last day of school in seventh grade I got dresscoded. Why? Because I was wearing Nike shorts. Yes, I understand that I was technically breaking dress code, but my shorts were so big, they were down to my knees and I had been wearing athletic shorts that whole week. The funny part of story aka what made me mad was that lots of other girls were wearing Nike shorts or booty shorts and they did not get in trouble. But here comes Aliah Kauffman ready to

However, others contend that cheerleading outfits are a tradition and are fine just how they are. Ultimately, cheerleading uniforms should comply with dress code regulations because the cheerleading skirt is well above the length limit, since all girls must follow dress code regulations, cheerleaders should too, and because short cheerleading skirts are improper and provocative.…
