When she gave me this “dream shoes” her face was not pretty. I suddenly realized something went wrong. After dinner, we sit together and had a long talk about how this product was made and who made it. At the moment she was involved in a study about child labor in china. She told me something that really changed my mind and perspective about these product. “The child labor laws in China forbid employers in the country from employing people considered to be minors. According to the children laws which have been passed in China, minors are generally considered to be children under the age of 16 years.”(children labor laws in China). My aunt also introduced me a book called “Child Labour: A World History Companion” By H. Sandy. In the book it described child labors found in 3 Chinese factories. “child workers hand-painted doll without wearing masks to protect them from the noxious fames coming from the paint. In another, women workers some as 12 years olds, slept in dark and damp dormitories, two or three to a bed. In the third factory, seasonal increases in demand led management to require girls to work two 24-hour shifts each month” (Sandy, 1999, p.14) It is still uncertain that how many children are bearing child labor, not to mention they have to work under threats of poor health, unsafe working environment such as fire or explosions; However these foreign company merely look forward to making profit by using cheap child labor …show more content…
I simply could not believe that the factory owner force children under 15-year-oldchild to do these dangerous job. Even a grown man has to handle the job with care. That was nor a situation that a child would face. They had no choices because of poverty, working instead of going to school seemed to be the only way for the family to surrive. Due to lack of education the only type of job offered to them is manual labor, all they do is repeating simple task over and over. Mean while, people who is in my age was meant to be the new leader of the time, because we keep absorbing new ideas and technologies to put into use. However look back these children workers, their life is miserable, they could not engage with society, could not communicate with people other than the workers. They are left out and will never have a chance to get back to where they should be. Because compare to schooling, working too early would destroy the child. They will have a childhood they never want to bring it up again. Also the research done by L.LOCHNER and E.MORETTI states that:” schooling significantly reduces criminal
