First of all, this ad is this most recent of the three ads we have shown you and because of this we see Nike’s newest, best looking, and “freshest” gear on display. Furthering this idea of new sporting notions this ad includes star athletes from a wide range of different sports. Athletes including Mike Trout, Garrett Richards, Misty May-Treanor, the Thompson brothers, Mia Hamm, Andrew Luck, and Anthony Davis, all of whom are established stars in their respective sports or up and coming athletes in their individual sports. It is also important to note that the description for this video is “the longest pick up game ever on the hottest day of the year”. From the content of this advertisement it would also be concluded that the target audience of the commercial is people living in the North America. …show more content…
The use of close-up camera shots throughout the advertisement whenever “the kid” is putting on new Nike gear for all the different sports he takes part in over the course of the commercial. This zoomed in shot puts importance and emphasis on the gear that is being worn by the kid, almost linking his surprisingly great play in each sport with the fact that he is wearing Nike apparel. The language techniques in this advertisement mainly revolve around the sports jargon term “we’re short a guy” not only does this appeal to a common conundrum faced by people playing in pick up games but it also proposes the idea of “the kid” being a short guy.
