I can definitely say it would not be a movie I could catch myself watching in my downtime, but I’m glad I got to see it. In school I have always learned about slavery and what happened to slaves but never got a very clear picture on what really happened and how slaves in the south were really treated. This movie really showed me everything I was ever wondering and as far as I know it’s pretty historically accurate. Nightjohn taught me a lot about slaves, such as they needed passes to go anywhere other than where they were working, and that some of the masters were actually kind to the slaves and only abused them and treated them awfully when they messed up. For some reason I always had this image in my head of slaves being literally chained up and treated so much worse than they actually were, this movie really changed that image in my head. Overall, this is a very great movie in teaching about slavery in the antebellum south, also just an entertaining movie with a good story line that I really

Mr. Waller, he was your typical slave owner of the story. In the story; there’s a breeder girl named Alice. She gets punished for it; after she was punished; Waller made Sarny go rub salt in her cuts so she could feel more pain. Because it gives you a really good flavor of how people in the south treated African-Americans at that time, it shows the chemistry NightJohn and sarny had and it shows how cruel slave owners and overseers were to the slaves.…

"Wanted" is basically from a comic book that has limited series written by Mark Miller and J.G Jones, it is about an amoral protagonist (Wesley Gibson) who is discovered as the heir of super assassin. Russian director, Timur Bekmambetov, he is the cream of the crop, he turns this comic into a movie that make the viewers not sit still and make their adrenaline and cortisone levels spike with the actions. Bekmambetov used the similar style of shots and angles with his previous movie, Night watch. It's more to wide angle (long shot), so we can see the terrifying background like one of the scenes in the torture room, where Wes has been beaten up by the butcher. Not even that, there are many special effects that Bekmambetov applies in this movie, like slow-motion with sound effects that certainly provides that "ouch" reaction from audiences.…

The producers and directors did a great job on doing so too. They showed the struggle oppression that the Black community had at that time. When they first integrated the school, you can feel the hate, and the idea that neither of the two ethnic groups wanted to be there, or wanted the other to be there as well. While everyone is out doing what, they are supposed to be doing something happens outside, and then everyone starts pointing fingers saying it was the Blacks fault that this happened or it was the Whites fault that this happened. Which says a lot, because it shows an exact representation of how things went on for several years.…

Both the film, High Noon, and the story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” share a very similar setting that affects the course of the stories. “Near a landmark of some kind-a tree or an outcropping of a rock-a man on a horseback awaits”(Foreman 288). This quote is trying to demonstrate how the closest object, feature of a landmark or town of Hadleyville is a tree, which goes to show how detached from society the setting of High Noon is. “His eyes made out the shadowy outlines of a palatial chateau: it was set on a high bluff, and on three sides of it cliffs dived down to where the sea licked greedy lips in the shadows,”(Connell 7). This quote, which is talking about the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” is saying that there is one chateau,…

Good Night and Good Luck was a really good film, released in 2005 directed and starring George Clooney. I am not a fan of black and white movies so I was a little skeptical of the movie. The movie was pretty insightful and quite interesting in how closely related it can be to shows like The Daily Show. The movie had be at the award scene, I enjoyed the characters and the way they were dressed.…

In the “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass” by Frederick Douglass he illustrates the life and struggles as he was a slave. Douglass tells his story of being born and kept as a slave, and his escape to the North in his early twenties, in a style that depicts the evil he experienced and/or observed in Maryland. Such as, being removed from his mother's care by the age of one, with almost no contact allowed with her for the rest of his life and being clothed as a child only in a knee-length shirt, summer or winter. Also, having no provision for beds or bedding except for a single blanket. Not to forget the atrocities of routine rape of women to increase slaveholders' assets and wealth; which can make anybody’s stomach turn.…

Night of the Living Dead better represents the horror genre than Carnival of Souls because of its use of characteristics, stereotypes and technical components throughout the film. Now analysing it only makes me enjoy the film more. A movie which was released in 1992 has similar aspects of race issues as we do today, 26 years later this movie is still very in tune to how society functions today on account of race. So many factors are built into a strong film and this movie contains all of it. The movie contains complex relationships rooted in conflicts, a meaningful plot based in reality, and best of all contains an actual problem that needs to be solved. Only in my opinion the tension between Billy and Sidney is never truly fixed.…
