NightJohn

In the book NightJohn by Gary Paulsen, there is nonstop conflict and resolution. Clel Waller owns many slaves, including Sarny, Deliah, and Nightjohn. Sarny’s birth was challenging because Waller was expecting a male child. Deliah and Waller had a small altercation when he found out Sarny was a girl. Waller later sold Sarny’s mother since he only promised that Sarny would not be sold. About seven years later, when Nightjohn enters the property of Clel Waller he is almost instantly considered a troublemaker and is treated just like one. I believe it to be unfathomable, the need for slaves, when one can do the work himself. I think the actions of Clel Waller are incompetent because his prejudice against slaves put not only the slaves

If Clel were to give rewards for good behavior the workers would be more willing to work for him. Fear and intimidation make workers of any kind want to rebel or go on strikes. Fear and intimidation have been a very crucial part of my life. I have figured out that working with people who make me happier has always resulted beneficially on both sides.

NightJohn is a character of magnificent leadership, he knows how not give up and how to be effective in his teaching. To be an effective leader you have to know your student, and not by assumption. NightJohn is considered a leader because he has strength, courage, and confidence. Another leader in the book NightJohn would be Sarney. She was young but, she was smart and knew how to inspire others to keep their heads high. Leadership isn't exactly an immense part of my life. I keep my head high and hope for the best in multiple situations and most people that are around me do the same.

If opinions were made not by looking at someone's face but by realizing that there is a chance you may actually be surprised by their personality. Use methods that can make someone feel better about themselves and perform much better than average. Only good leaders can make changes to

Midnight Rising Book Review Before reading “Midnight Rising: John Brown and the Raid That Sparked the Civil War” by Tony Horwitz I believed that Abraham Lincoln was the man whose policies and beliefs sparked the Civil war and the Abolition of slavery. I believed that because even though there are many abolitionists in the history books none or are as famous or as notable as President Lincoln. I had never heard the name John Brown or how he and his small gang of followers may have single handedly ignited the fire that would spiral into a full-fledged civil war and national divide. The argument over slavery and its moral convictions has had a presence in American society long before the time of John Brown.…

True leadership is represented by standing up for the greater good of a group without selfishness and ignorance towards others. The story The Lord of The Flies by William Golding demonstrates a constant struggle for power and leadership between Jack, Piggy, and Ralph. The malicious actions that result draw out specific aspects of leadership from each boy. Apart from Jack and his aggressive attitude toward others or Piggy with the lack of respect he receives from the others, Ralph 's rational thinking is the trait, that as a leader, trumps the others and clearly shows how his endless efforts for the greater good of the boys make him the distinct leader.…

Slavery in America was a very cruel form of work, in which many did not have the option but to work as slaves, for example Frederick Douglas, who was born to Harriet Bailey (a former slave), did not get that option, although he was born to a “white man” who was whispered to be his to be his master, (Narrative pg. 20) by law Douglas had to follow the condition of his mother who was a previous slave (Narrative pg. 21).
