About 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust. The book Night written by Elie Wiesel is his account of what occurred to him and the others around him during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was the worst genocide in the world because the Nazis killed people of any age, the concentration camps had the worst possible conditions, and the Nazis treated the prisoners like animals. One reason the Holocaust was the worst genocide in the world is the Nazis killed people of any age. One piece of evidence that shows this is “They were burning something. A lorry drew up at the pit and delivered its load-little children. Babies!” (Wiesel, 30) This quote shows how even little children and babies were not safe from the Nazis wrath. In fact, the Nazis wanted to kill the children because they knew the children would be easy to kill and the mothers would die with their children. Because the Nazis wanted to kill off the entire Jewish population, the children were killed so they couldn’t grow up and lead a life away from the camps. The author wrote “The SS seemed more preoccupied, more disturbed than usual. To hang a young boy in front of thousands of spectators was no light matter.” (Wiesel, 61) This shows that the Nazis even killed the young in the camp. Furthermore, the Nazis killed the boy without any remorse. This was a surprise to the prisoners because they were used to seeing adults being killed in the camps and it made them realize the Nazis could kill anybody at any time.…
