“His last words were my name. A summons, to which I did not respond. I did not weep, and it pained me that I could not weep.” This is an exert from page 106 in the book Night. It describes that even as Eliezer’s father is dying he doesn’t weep and he tells how he hurts from not being able to cry for his father’s death and how he knew that what was right was to feel bad for his passing. This shows how Eliezer knew that even as everything was going bad he knew what was right. He knew what the moral thing to do was but decided not to do it. “Oh to strangle the doctors and the others! To burn the world! My father’s murderers! But the cry stayed in my mouth.” This quote came from page 103 in the book Night. Here is a small section of the book Hitler Youth. “Youth joined in the attacks on Jews and Jewish property. Many ordinary Germans also participated willingly.” This gives proof to the fact that people are able to find a moral way out of the situation that they are in. In this small section it talks about how ordinary Germans were attacking Jews and Jewish things, but they could have done something moral and stopped attacking and get more people they know to stop and even possibly try to help the Jews and Jewish property. They easily could have found a moral way out instead of attacking people they know or used to know and do what they would believe is morally correct. Another section of Hitler Youth says, “Sometimes the gangs attacked and roughed up members of the HJ-Streifendienst, especially during air-raid blackouts when their identities where hidden by darkness.” The gangs that this quote references to are groups of people who fight against Hitler and his power. The gangs could have done something more moral instead of beating up on Hitler Youth. They could have protested against Hitler with a worthy number of people or help the people who Hitler was targeting with his power. Both of these examples show that people could have easily done the right thing instead of fighting and doing immoral
