In this book Night writen by Ellie Wesiel this named Ellie is sent to a concertration camp with his mother, father, and two sisters. He is then seperated from his mother and sisters and then is just left with his father. He then has to go through living in this camp tring to help keep his father alive and also keep alive himself. Through out his time their he must watch the people beat his father and he got beat him self. And he wanted to give up, but their were certain thing that helped him get through the camp and not lose hope like the many others their.
The first thing that many of them did was they believed and hoped that their loved ones were still alive. For many just knowing or believing that was enough to keep them from just giving up. Page 44 “Yes, my mother did hear from them. Reizel is fine. So are the chrildern……… He was weeping for joy”. Just believing was enough to kep them from giving up. Knowing was enough to give them hope. And when they prisoners had hope they were able to fight out the nazies mentaly and not feel the pain phisically. Page 46 “And Tzipora, she is a big girl now. Them thinking that this was a test from god really got them to not want to fail it. They wanted to prove to their god that they could handle anything that god threw at them. Page 45 “God is testing us. He want to see wheather we are capable of overcomming the our base instincts, killing the satan withen us”. They did not want to be the one that failed gods test.
