In the book, Night by Elie Wiesel he is faced with the ability of taking his father’s rations along with his own and decided not to. For example Elie was told by the Blockälteste, “‘In fact you should be getting his rations…’”(Wiesel 111). He is saying this because Elie’s father is dying of Dysentery and couldn’t be saved. Elie won’t take his father’s rations because he doesn’t want to be like Rabbi Eliahu’s son and leave his father for the dead. Another example is when Elie thinks, “With or without water, it would be over soon anyway…”(Wiesel 110). He thinks this after trying to get his father to eat some soup and his father keeps pleading for Elie to give him some water. Elie admits that he knows that his father is going to die but still
