Have there ever been a time where it was just you nobody else? No mom, no dad, no friends, no sisters, and no brothers. You ever have to survive on your own? Blockälteste’s quote is saying that at this point no matter the people around you have to help yourself and just yourself. And I took this part of the quote “Each of us lives and dies alone.” Like when I hear someone say “You come in this world alone, you will leave this world alone.” So that is what I thought about when reading that. I Think in the story Night I don’t believe the Blockälteste’s statement is true for Eliezer and his father in the story because they have been together most of the story. He ended up dying alone. What Blockälteste’s told Eliezer was not true for Eliezer but true for Juliek. The quote from the text is sort of true for some people today. Like me I am the only child and my dad is dead. It is just me and my mom, but it still fills like I don't even have a mom sometimes. So I can relate to the quote personally. There is so many people I think that the statement is true for them. Like kids that don't have families, and live in foster home can relate to this. I have three friends that are foster kids and will say that it is just them self in the world because they do call the different foster home guardians they’re parents. Because they are surviving in this world without their parents going from place to place. They have to look out for them self’s when it comes to moving to a different homes and meeting people that may be dangerous for them. So in the statement by Blockälteste’s to Eliezer “In this place, it is every man for himself, and you cannot think of others.” He is telling him that “You have to save yourself and not others at this point of time.” Bacilliy telling Eliezer that no more looking out for his father. He needs to look out for

One less reason to live.(109)” Throughout Night by Elie Wiesel, Nazis show time and time again how relentless they will be with their physical and emotional abuse towards prisoners in concentration camps.
