Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for freedom and equality of African American people and is now a well known historical person for what he did for people all around the nation. Segregation and discrimination have been going on for quite some time now. Negroes didn’t have their rights, there are separate places for white people and colored people, white people feel superior to African Americans, and nothing is changing. This is until Martin Luther King Jr., a minister of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, gave his powerful “I Have a Dream” speech and wrote his cogent letter directed to the Clergymen, “Letter From Birmingham Jail.” King was a leader of the African American civil rights movement, lead nonviolent protest, and spoke out against poverty…

Genealogy of Morals by Nietzsche is a compilation of critiques to which he questions moral judgements and its genealogical origin. In Nietzsche’s first essay, he refers to two different types of morality. The first being master morality and the second being slave morality. What is the language? The language is a most powerful weapon that we can used for to create a great impact on others; moreover, it could be influenced over and over the time. In “Politics and the English Language”, George Orwell stated that language is a reflection of our culture and society. On the contrary, in “Letter from Birmingham Jail”, Martin Luther King, Jr. shows his belief about the segregation and tried to bring his community up to against the unjust law. In the both texts, George Orwell and Martin Luther King, Jr. both shows that political leaders use the language to empower the individuals in society by making an encouragement to bring them together and convince them to believe as his or her belief.…

In his work “Beyond Good and Evil”, Nietzsche argues that the concept of “good” and “evil” are initially designated by those individuals with the political and social power to live their lives by sheer will (master morality abiders) whist the others who lack this force are doomed to be subjected to their power (slave morality abiders) until eventually the latter overthrows their masters. One of the main themes Nietzsche formulates in this work is that ancient Roman society was grounded in master morality, and that this morality disappeared as the slave morality of Christianity spread through ancient Rome. According to him, the struggle between master and slave moralities recurs historically, as he argues that ancient Greek and Roman societies…

Friedrich Nietzsche was a German philosopher who had a lot of controversial views on society. In his book “Twilight of the Idols”, there are a lot of different themes being explored of which some include what the Germans are lacking, how moralities have “improved” human beings, why the senses are superior to reason and even the problem with Socrates. One of the statement that we will be focusing on would be “Every individual may be regarded as representing either the ascending or the descending line of life.” This statement will be looked at and compared to the four of the themes that were found in his book. To start, according to Nietzsche, people from the ascending line of life are people who are noble, healthy, commanders, birds of prey,…

This is ironic, if the lives of slaves are good, why are they referring to the masters as evil instead of thanking the masters and celebrating the “good” life they are living. Nietzsche hated the ressentiment because the slaves did not care for the life that they were living; they devalued it. It was not about this life; it was all about the afterlife. Nietzsche could not understand why one would deny pleasure in their current life in order to gain pleasure in the afterlife. For example, restraining from having sex, which is a natural human desire, or fasting, when eating is vital for living.…

Freedom of choice and responsibility In the recent discussions of existentialism, a controversial issue has been whether existentialism is before essence. On the one hand, some argue that essence is before existentialism. From this perspective, each man has a particular, universal human nature and has the same basic qualities. In other words, God creates a man, so a man’s life is only directed by God.…

In his essay Genealogy of Morality, Nietzsche suggests that there are two types of morality: master morality and slave morality. Slave morality values virtues like humility, sympathy and kindness. Slave morality sees opposite with noble man, who conceives ‘good’ in advance and spontaneity: the ‘bad’ and ‘evil’ originates from noble man arising out of insatiable hatred. This is the essential act of conception of slave morality (Friedrich Nietzsche sec. 11).…
