Overview of the Crank Trilogy The books that I chose to do my report on were the Crank trilogy, Crank, Glass, and Fallout, by Ellen Hopkins. Crank was published in 2004, Glass was published in 2007, and the last book, Fallout came out in 2013. Ellen Hopkins wrote these books when she had a personal experience when her daughter, Kristina, started using "the monster" after she met the wrong person. She wrote the books to help herself understand why her daughter did it, then she realized that other people would relate to it and how many people had the same story.…

I agree with you on this topic of right vs. wrong in the case of Lauren Olamina. I feel the same she is so interesting in this way she knows right from wrong. Lauren has a big conscience I believe she is able to see that maybe that guy if he was able to roast his potato on their coal, they may have been taken advantage of later on. Then her helping people in need, this is her. I can see her personality in these situations, which also relate back to the environment she has grown up in.…

Lisa Wilson Strick begins her essay with a comment from her son, and a list of activities she does badly, to help set up her contrasting views on how seriously one's hobbies should be taken. Throughout her essay, she continues to point out how competitive people are nowadays while participating in activities that were once solely for leisure, and how in the past everything was much simpler. Her response to her son's criticism on how badly she plays the piano shows that she cares more about having fun rather than worrying over how well she is progressing in her hobbies. That is what Strick believes should truly matter, and is the basis of her thesis.…

If anyone were asked to describe her, feisty, rude, blunt, hostile, anything along those lines would most likely be their response. Ask her counterpart, or a close friend, and it's possible that they would respond a simple "bittersweet". On the off occasion where her blonde roots showed as the pink dye wore away, the dark circles under her eyes would be amplified, and her voice would be uncharacteristically quiet. On those rare days, she wouldn't go out. At least not to more then one place.…

    Raven Symone Analysis

After seeing all of the controversy with Raven Symone, I have to say that I disagree with her however, I do understand the point she is trying to make. I disagree with her saying that she would not hire an individual because their name is hard to pronounce or is ghetto because it is true that we did not choose to be named what we are named and no one should be denied a great opportunity with a job or career simply because of their name. However, I do think that what she is trying to bring light to, makes great sense. It is important for PARENTS, give your child a STEADY name because in the world that we live in, it can become very challenging for child to become very successful in life ( job searching, college applications, career goals) if…

Women tend to find more peaceful ways to end violence than men. According to Sara Ruddick mothers in particular are more likely to use peaceful methods to resolve violence than men and non-mothers. Ruddick believes that mothers have a different experience when dealing with violence than men and non-mothers which may cause their different approach to resolving it. Ruddick says that mothers attempt to teach their children about non-violence even though they have little to no control over whether their child fights or not. Ruddick's beliefs are generally found to be true in many cases.…

    Anne Hathaway Analysis

    • 1017 Words

Why does Duffy use an extract from Shakespeare's will ? The reason Duffy had used an extract from Shakespeare's will is because she had a different view towards Shakespeare’s will. The poem “Anne Hathaway” acts as an revisionist exercise, where Duffy challenges Shakespeare’s idea of the second best bed with an alternative opinion of her own. Duffy interprets the second bed as not simply the second best bed or a sign of neglect, but a sign and proof of love and devotion to the reader as it is actually the bed that they love the most, this is because even it might not be the best in terms of its value, it is the bed they slept in together;the bed where they share all their best moments.…
