Nicolaus Copernicus found the theory of heliocentric in 1541. Heliocentric means the sun is in the centre of the universe. Copernicus found that all the planets such as Mercury, Venus, the Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn revolve around the sun. Copernicus was the first to speak out about his theory that the planets didn’t actually revolve around the earth, but in fact the sun was in the middle of the universe. Copernicus was the first to actually succeed in proving that his theory was true and the movements of the planets placed the sun at the center of the universe . Copernicus hypothesised that all the planets revolve around the sun because the other planets received heat and light meaning that the sun had to be in the middle of the universe
