Nickelodeons began to appear by 1905, whose purpose was to show films to paying customers. These Nickelodeons were small storefronts, this included a projector and seats, films. Costing only a nickel, these shows, which usually ran 15 to 20 minutes and were shown continuously throughout the day, were widely accessible and affordable. This was a popular place for the working class people to come and view films. Around 1910, as the popularity of movie-going as a recreational activity increased, Nickelodeons began to be replaced by larger, more traditional movie theatres.
