Nestled in the Los Gatos hills, off Glen Una Drive, and down a semi-private road, lives Nick Pisano and lovely wife Susan. Living there with them are their three dogs, Bella, a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Paris and Paula, brother and sister Shih Tzu’s, and from time-to-time, Nick’s mother comes to visit. Their home was built in the later 1800’s and was once a part of the Glen Una Ranch, Nick purchased their home in 1973 and is only the third owner of this property.
The Pisano family arrived in the bay area when the valley when the primary industries were ranching and agriculture. For two generations, the Pisano family has worked this valley, sometimes literally. The name Pisano is well known in the construction industry with projects like Central and Lawrence Expressway, Moffett Field and all the way up to Redwood Shore, just to mention a few.
Throughout Nick’s school years, any free time was either spent on his father’s prune and apricot ranch or working in construction. By the time he graduated from high school, he supervised a small crew. By the time he was 20, he took over his father’s responsibilities as on-site manager, supervising large projects. Susan also has an older sister that lives that settled in San Marcos with her three children. Susan’s passion is reading. She says she reads every night, at least an hour. Although her favorite period is history, specifically from world war II. Historical figures like Winston Churchill, George Patton, JFK and Jacqueline Kennedy. Yet she reads everything from historical biographies to thrillers. “It is important to learn from mistakes from the past in order not to repeat them.
