Nicholas Winton, is the name of a man who saved nearly 700 children in Czechoslovakia in 1938-1939. When winton heard about an organization called the Kindertransport which ended up saving about 10,000 children he immediately wanted to create his own. He gathered a few people and started his unauthorized rescue mission in March of 1939, applications from parents wanting safety for their children started pouring into Nicholas’s hotel in Prague. During the day Nicholas worked in stock exchange, but by night he was raising money and finding families in Britain to care for the incoming children refugees. Because of his tireless efforts 50 pound per child guarantee was made for the children's journey into Britain, and almost 700 children were saved.
