As a child I was a very shy to those I was not yet familiar with. I had open ears; however, I was not always willing to speak to strangers. I have since changed but I believe that my shyness attributed to two qualities that I now represent daily. I am enthusiastic and a good listener. The younger version of myself was always willing to listen and also ready to make new friendships. I am no longer shy but I still carry my traits of enthusiasm and and a great listener. I have used my enthusiasm to change the lives of others by always being willing to try new things. I was raised with the notion that I should always volunteer. My enthusiasm to dedicate my time and effort to help people has eased the burdens of many. I have used my listening skills throughout high school to help identify other students problems and solve them. I often help other students with subjects such as math and science. The mornings of tests and quizzes I am more than happy to hear what other students need help with to be successful on their work. I have been blessed with the proficiency of mathematics and I enjoy helping others be fluent in the subject. I believe I have changed my friends lives by often helping them with their work. I will explain how certain problems are done and also simply converse with my peers in order to boost their confidence. I believe that with the Jennifer Reitzell Memorial Scholarship I will be encouraged to continue helping other students in college.
