Nfl Entertainment Video Analysis

In the video, I think that NFL executives, players, and fans are placing a high value on the entertainment. I think that this is because sports came about as a form of entertainment - something to help pass time once civilizations started popping up. So, I think football, in its very nature, is a form of entertainment for Americans. I think high value is placed on football because it has been ingrained in America as a result of tradition for entertainment. They see Dr. Omalu’s findings as an “enemy,” trying to take down the American tradition of football. They try to fight Dr. Omalu’s findings by attempting to silence him, the messenger. To fight the battle, the NFL executives were using weapons such as a loosely put-together FBI investigation in addition to manipulation, such as inviting Omalu to the conference only for publicity. The outcome of this was that America was kept in the dark. Dr. Omalu’s findings were not recognized by the NFL and the American public did not know the risks of brain injuries in football. At its very core, the movie is about a person who is trying to help people and is hindered by a greedy corporation. Dr. Omalu knows the moral thing to do is to continue to try to help the public; so, he does so, regardless of the corporation’s attacks. Omalu is true to God and puts everything on the line - including his life - when he tries to inform people of the dangers of football and CTE. He follows a moral path, centered around God by attending Church. Omalu is suffering because he is “taking the bullet” of a greedy corporation so that the American public can be more informed. Or in other words, he sacrifices his own comfort to help others. This is God’s word in action. Omalu loved people so much he risked and lost his career in the city trying to inform everyday Americans about CTE. This act is selfless, a clear, central example as to how God fits into the
