Jamie’s discussion post had similar viewpoints to my own. Jamie believes that Ramona should not accept the job. I will discuss two of the major points Jamie mentioned and further review them. First, the recruiter did not provide Ramona with clear answer following the gripe-site. The only response they could provide was that lawyers were shutting the sites down. Like Jamie, I found this quite alarming that the company would did not have a defense for what other websites were saying about their ethics and morals. The way Next Step treated past corporations was not in a Godly manner. The CEOS and executives of Next Step have opposite worldviews and morals than Christians, will effect business decisions that Ramona would have to make everyday. …show more content…
When I read this article I did not realize how badly Next Step was stereotyping against Ramona due to her background. The recruiter stated that because Ramona went to a Christian university and was from the south, she would be able easily convince new distributors in the south to purchase Next Step Herbal Health. Robert Cantwelk gave a great definition of stereotyping when he said this, “In stereotype we assign individual to groups on the basis perhaps of a single trait, such as skin color, a profession or region, a native language, all perceived in relation to their contraries in the self ( Cantwell, 1990, p. 57).” The recruiter assumed that because of her age, religion, prior university, and location of living that the company could use this to their advantage to lock in new distributors to the south. Ramona should read the bible passage where Paul tells the Galatians that, “ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians #:28, ESV). In other words, we are all sons and daughters of Jesus Christ and are all uniquely created by our Father. Next Step already placed a judgment on Ramona’s personality before even getting to know her. This is another important reason why Ramona should decline the job offer. Great job on your discussion post,

Considering our world today a huge percentage of people truly is living on low wage salaries. Barbara Ehrienreich came up with the book Nickel and Dimed On (Not) Getting by in America in the most paradoxical way. She was in a French country-style place that offers $30 for lunch with Lewis Lepham. They were talking about the future articles that she may write for especially in the side of poverty. Considering that price of $30, that is not really the best price for lunch so that made her tell the editor that someone should do old fashioned journalisms and try it themselves.…

In this paper I will explain that the God Squad’s central value, when determining who should receive the limited resource, was the value to society provided by the candidate. Due to this criteria, Rhonda Ryder would not be put on the list because her societal value included prostitution charges, case of syphilis, drug use, and multiple children with different fathers. However, I deem that the God Squad’s system is flawed insofar as it fails to consider how the resource could be used most effectively. I will also argue that the important value should be the prosperity of the organ and patient in order to ensure the organ is not wasted: killing two people. Therefore, I contend that Rhonda Ryder should be put on the list.…

Health and nutrition have been an essential part of life since the beginning of time, but more recently these topics are shared and examined more frequently than ever, especially in America. In Michael Pollan’s article “Our National Eating Disorder,” Claudia Kalb’s “Food News Blues,” and Karin Kratina’s “The Right Thing to Do?” it is made apparent that how we eat may be just as important as what we eat. These three authors make very valid points about American’s obsession with health fads and negative thinking towards many food groups.…

This weeks reading, Walking This Path Together by Kundouqk and Qwel’shi’yah’maht, was very insightful to the Anti-Oppressive practises across Canada. I appreciated the in depth detail into indigenous studies, and could easily see the transition to all cultures. I was taken by the phrase, “best interest of the child”, as I have heard this phrase many times over my lifetime. (p. 40) The need to protect children has been thrust to the forefront of the country as if a necessity, but rarely is the child’s family or community been considered.…

We, as humans simple believe that we should have made a better choice, but we didn’t.…

The piece “One Thing Leads to the Next” illustrates the negative parts of being a drug addict, and how drugs make you feel. The piece contrasts the negatives and the consequences when doing drugs. The title of my art piece is “One Thing Leads To The Next…” which what I’m trying to give awareness to is that even just by taking prescription medicine it can lead to becoming a drug addict. An example, can be if you take Ibuprofen often, it can lead you to taking stronger medication to help your pain go away. I believe that my piece incorporates a rhetorical question “Will you do it?”…
