Many things in our world anger me, but when I hear that our new President has just made it legal for mentally ill Americans to purchase guns, I go ballistic. The second amendment states that we are given the right to bear arms legally, but I think that our founding fathers did not mean that someone mentally ill is allowed to purchase firearms. Events occur all around the world that give evidence as to why firearms should not even be allowed to be purchased even by the average human being.
The Newtown shooting occurred at Sandy Hook elementary school in 2012 and it is a day we will never forget. Adam Lanza, age 20 was mentally ill and he used legal guns to shoot innocent children’s lives. What he did with them proves a point as to why under no circumstance should it have been made legal for mentally ill people to be given the right to purchase firearms. I mean really, what was our president thinking. Firearms are meant to be used for military purposes and and hunting, though, now we will not be able to control the amount of gun use in harmful ways as well as we have in the past.

Things are now changing drastically and it makes me furious. Now that mentally ill people are allowed to purchase guns, these people are rethinking their statements. Obviously, before this law was made people were using guns in the wrong way, but now we will have more people buying guns and not knowing what to do with them so they will use them the wrong way. Not only does this make me angry, but it scares me because at on any given day I could end up in a situation where something bad occurs because in many mass shootings that have occurred, innocent people die that don’t deserve to and I would prefer to not be one of
