Newton's Three Laws Of Motion In Gymnastics

Superior Essays
Gymnastics is a very large sport and is done all over the world. It is performed by both male athletes and female athletes. Gymnastics started out as a very small sport but has grown ever since. Gymnastics can be evaluated through the laws of physics.
Gymnastics first started as a way to build muscle and was first one in Greece but when Rome took over Greece much of gymnastics had disappeared. That was until the Roman empire used it as a form of training in the military. At this time gymnastics was very closed to the public until the fall of the roman empire. Gymnastics was now a sport open to all that wanted to try it. In 1774 Johann Bernard Basedow started a school where he taught this sport which is how modern gymnastics began.

Newton's first law of motion states that an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. This law applies to gymnastics when a gymnast is flipping through the air they will not stop flipping until they either hit the ground or change their body position. Newton's second law states that the net force acting on an object will cause it to accelerate (F=ma). Newton's second law applies to gymnastics because male gymnasts are usually more muscular than female gymnasts so the tend to have more mass. This means that they will have to apply more force than female gymnasts do when doing the same skill. Newton's third law of motion states that for every action force on an object, there is an equal reaction force. This is applied to all event but these are some examples for vault. One example is while the gymnast is running down the runway they are putting force on the runway and the runway is pushing the same amount of force back. Another example is when the gymnast hit s their feet on the springboard or their hands on the table they push down hard on the object and it pushes with the same force back so that the gymnast can successfully finish their vault. Finally when the gymnast hits the ground on her final landing the ground will push back up with equal force so that the landing can be

One example includes how multiple girls are allowed to participate in boy’s football while boys are not allowed to play girl’s sports. Various reasons might cause this from saying that boys are too aggressive in sports, that boys are usually bigger and stronger than girls at this stage, or it also might be that schools view boys as athletically superior to girls which has no place in America.…
