Newton Running: Speech Analysis

In my opinion I thought the speech went pretty well. It has been a while since I have given a speech, so I felt quite rusty at first. My research on Newton Running came pretty easy so it enabled me to be more confident in my delivery. The necessary aspects of the speech came pretty easy and I felt that I delivered them pretty clearly. I thought that I did several things quite well and at the same time had some basic speech giving abilities I could improve on. After watching my speech on video I recognized several things that beforehand I believed I had done well, and upon watching the speech, did do very well. Firstly was my organization, but mainly my introduction and main points. Both of these had all aspects covered and were easy to notice during the speech. Secondly I thought I did very well with my volume, rate, and vocal variety. These verbal delivery attributes came off very well in my speech and I was very happy to see that I could still execute these aspects. Third was timing of my speech. Firstly I wasn’t very happy with how much I relied on reading off my cards during the speech. After watching the speech it seemed as if over half of my speech was directly read from my notes and I would prefer to have more of the speech memorized. The second thing I could have improved on was my facial expression. My facial expression in the speech appeared to be bland and non-changing. I would like to have a more passionate facial expression that varies throughout the speech according to the point I am trying to present. Things such as a more exuberant look when I deliver a very important statistic or a stricter look when I discuss a very serious topic. Thirdly I could have improved on my conclusion. After watching the speech I noticed I could have done a better job linking the intro and conclusion, relating the topic back to the audience, and previewing my main
