Did you know Isaac Newton almost gave up on his education before discovering the laws of motion? Isaac Newton was a phenomenal scientist with memorable achievements that will be forever taught in schools and in many more parts of the world. He made significant contributions to various fields of science and mathematics. He was an English physicist, mathematician, and one of the most important thinkers in the scientific revolution. He was born in 1642 to his widowed mother, Hannah Ayscough. Unfortunately Isaac's father, Isaac Newton Sr, passed away three months prior to his birth. When Isaac was born, he was not expected to survive, being tiny and weak. But by a miracle, he did. Isaac lived in a small …show more content…
This went on until 1653, until Smith, his step-father, passed away and his mom took Isaac back to live with her, knowing that he could manage the property. Isaac then continued his school life going back to the grammar school in Grantham, where he had studied, to prepare for university. June 1661 he was ready to matriculate at Trinity college, Cambridge, somewhat older than the other undergraduates because of his interrupted education. When Newton arrived at Cambridge the movement known as the Scientific Revolution was well advanced, and many of the works of modern science had appeared. His studies at Cambridge went well. He became interested in science when studying the ideas of philosophers and mathematicians such as Rene Descartes. He sought a fellowship at Cambridge in order to pursue mathematical studies and was elected to a scholarship in 1664 that would guarantee his place there for four years. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in 1665. However, that year, a plague forced the university to close temporarily, and he returned home to Woolsthorpe. At home in 1666, he began to develop some of his most groundbreaking theories, including the generalized binomial theorem. He later produced three papers
