The concept of Newspeak frightens me the most. I consider Newspeak the most frightening of all the technological advancements in 1984 because the vocabulary gets smaller each year (52). I value vocabulary because words are a way to express yourself which I often take for granted, but find very useful. Words are the most effective way to express what I think or feel and if vocabulary shrinks then I wouldn’t be able to express myself which is why I find Newspeak frightening. The limitations Newspeak puts on people makes them unaware of their emotions, because they have no way to express them or describe how they feel.
