The concrete jungle is thought of as many things by many people, but the sunset was definitely spectacular. Manhattan was more than enough for me, but I had to get out of the city. I moved to New jersey, just across the river to Newark, it was just close enough to preserve the beautiful sunset, but far enough to create a more peaceful, less hectic environment. My arrival to Newark was not ideal, I lived in a one room apartment with all of the necessities, but that is it. I worked at a pharmacy making slightly more than minimum wage, as the store made slightly more than it needed to remain in business. I envied the rich, how uncaring they were towards the less fortunate. But today, I was supposed to be able to forget about them, as I was traveling to Golden, Texas to visit my Sister, where the rich and poor do not exist, as it is too small for their existence. On the other hand, the town is not too small for rats to exist, but too small to import enough rat poison for everyone, explaining why I had two bags of rat poison in my backpack for her. I loaded my rat poison filled bags into the trunk of the cab and headed off towards EWR.

when I woke from my deep sleep to the sound of someone screaming. I thought “Oh no, the time has come.” I opened my eyes and turned my head. To my surprise, it was not her, but in fact, her friend sitting directly next to her. I panicked and did not know what to do. I stood up and ran over to help. I held her hair back as she vomited blood into the frail doggie bags the airline provides you incase you throw up mid-flight. She was losing consciousness. I screamed for help, but everyone was frozen with fear. I watched her eyes as they slowly closed, rolling to the back of her head, not knowing how a simple red-eye flight could have led to her demise.
