The moral dilemma I have chosen to write about is Case 14, regarding the conception of “donor babies,” or infants conceived for the intentioned or expressed purpose of donating valuable bone marrow or tissue to a sibling. In such cases, doctors perform an amniocentesis procedure to determine if the fetus is a match, and if so, draw the needed marrow out using needles once the child is 14 months old. Advocates to this practice claim that “families love and cherish donor babies just as much as other babies,” while critics claim that “the practice of connecting donor babies will cheapen the perceived value of human life.” Undoubtedly, this is a case that raises some serious moral questions with varying opinions from both sides of the argument,…

II. Fetal Heartbeat Standard One of the major changes the ACA attempts to make is the establishment of a new fetal heartbeat standard. Applying this standard would significantly reduce the amount of time needed in a pregnancy for the government to consider the fetus a compelling state interest. The plaintiff, Planned Parenthood of Texarkana, will immediately refer to the precedent set by Roe v. Wade as their strongest argument. In Roe, the Court deemed abortion a constitutional right implied in the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment.…

Pre-Birth to 3 The Pre-Birth to 3 document is a guideline put in place by Learning Teaching Scotland for children in the womb to age 3. This was previously Birth to 3 but was changed in 2010 to Pre-Birth to 3 as new research found that children learn in the womb before births, such as recognising sounds and smells. Many organisations were involved in this change, such as midwives, health visitors and the NHS as a whole.
