I can hear New York City buzzing outside through my cracked window as I wake up. I used to love it here, that is until I lost the reason I wanted to live here. My love of New York City all started with him, he led me here. He was the reason why I woke up every morning. He was the only thing that kept me going, and now he's gone. The worst part isn't that he is gone, but that no one knows why or how. Not even I can explain it and I was with him until the very end.
When the police questioned me, I couldn't even give them a clear description of what happened. It was like most of it was erased from my mind, but what I do remember, even if I tried to explain it to some one they wouldn't believe me. I snap back to reality when I hear a hoarse

I watched them as they ran down the hallway. They are the closest thing to a family that I have got. My mom disappeared when I was two but it was never figured out what happened to her. So everyone just assumed she didn't want me anymore.
The police couldn't find anyone family members so I went straight into the foster system. I bounced home to home until I was 15 and met Eddy. As soon as I met him I knew my life was going to take a turn. I was right as we got closer the more color my life seemed to have. All my life I felt like something was missing but when I met Eddy I felt like the hole was filled. Eddy wasn't the only one who welcomed me to his home his parents made me feel like I and a home.
Eddy and I always dreamed of going to New York, and for a year it was great until something started happening to me.
No one could explain it, it was like I was fine one day but then I would be extremely sick the next. The doctors said that my heart would stop and they didn't know what to do about it. I was in the hospital for months and then finally Eddy realized that they couldn't do anything about it. So that night he took me out and we hung out for the last time before he

My thoughts were interrupted by Andrew knocking on the door. “Ella are u ready? I can help if you need.” He said is a flirty voice.
I examined drawers to pick my out. I quickly plucked my adidas crop sweatshirt, ripped jeans, and adidas shoes. I threw them on and looked at myself in the mirror. “Ella if you don't respond soon I might have to break down the door,”he said laughing nervously.
I push the door open so fast he barely has time to move his 6’3 body out of the way. “Hey that wasn't very nice,” he started saying. “Drew I don't care,” I said as I stared at him and gave him a wink
Me and Drew race to the door to get to the car first, but he shoves me out of the way as we get close to the door. “Hey what was that for,” I yell at him “Oh my gosh Ella, I am so Sorry,” he says sarcastically and gets into the car, with tom in the front seat. As soon as I sit down and close the door, Tom steps on the gas and drives as fast as he can. He made it so a 10 minute drive to Pacsun now for work is actually two minutes. “I certainly won't miss your driving when you leave,” said Drew
As I got out of the car I looked up at the side walk and couldn't believe what I

I still couldn’t believe it had been ten whole years since I had moved from this place, but I just couldn’t get the memories out of my head. I could still feel the classic Norvelt wind blowing across my face calling me out to come and realize that this is where I belong. Well, I guess it was correct because even, after all, I and my family moved to Florida things just didn’t seem to want to go right. As I walked through the neighborhood I could still see everything as it was ten years ago, even though this Norvelt was so new and different in many ways.…

My grandfather worked in the fields and well as my grandmother who picked cotton on some plantations growing up in the South. Prologue The rain had poured down on the streets of Chicago at four in the morning. There was silence save for the sound of the heavy rain and the one or two cars that were coming home from their graveyard shifts at the local bars or the family of five taking their trip to some other far off location. No one was around to hear the sounds of crying, screaming. The sound of someone’s kneecaps being broken with a baseball bat.…

I used to think x-rays meant you had to sit in this box that had magical powers to be able to see my bones, and now that I’m older, I realize that that’s not the case. I’ve had one CT scan and about 8 x-rays done in my life. The x-rays were for the hereditary bunions I have, but the CT scan was way more scary than the x-rays. When I was about 12 years old, something really strange happened to me. Because I didn’t really know what was happening to me, I thought I was dying.…

I used to believe that your first time in New York City was the perfect opportunity to be whomever you want, eat whatever you want, and see whatever you want. I imagined my first experiences in the city that never sleeps to be something Carrie Bradshaw would write about and Serena Van Der Woodsen would be proud of. I pictured myself hailing taxis by doing that cool whistling thing with my fingers and eating at restaurants with only the finest of cuisines. I dreamed about strutting down Madison Ave. in oversized sunglasses, arms filled with shopping bags from Chanel, Gucci, Chloè, and Hermès.…

The Trip to the Grocery Store I haven’t seen him in weeks or maybe even months, I thought as I glared across the small distance between where I was standing and my dad’s car. With my One Direction CD clutched in my hands, I started to close the distance by walking towards his car. I opened the door and slipped in, and then he started to drive to the grocery store. At the time I was under the illusion that my dad would be even slightly happy to see me, but no.…

My parents moved to Dallas before they got married, which was at least ten years before I was born. My whole life I lived six hours away from the rest of my family. As the youngest grandkid, by the time I was old enough to remember, my grandparents were getting too old. It became harder for them to travel, so they rarely came to see my swim meets or orchestra concerts, and on the holidays we had to travel to them. Since I didn’t have extended family close by, my friends became my family.…
