Currently, many local Chinese have established a large number of education opportunities to students by opening preparatory schools and after schools in various locations across Queens. Flushing, Queens is one of the well-known neighborhoods of where many of those educational centers are located. Famous prep schools such as Mega Academy, Nationwide, and ABC Math are attended by most Chinese learners. They are provided with assistance in various subjects such as mathematics, science, and English and given rigorous preparatory sessions for college and specialized high school entrance exam. As of 2015 results for specialized high school entrance exam, “Of the 5,103 students offered placement in eight specialized high schools, 5 percent were black and 7 percent were Hispanic, the same as last year, while 52 percent were Asian” (Harris), which displays the outcome of the cram schools and the academic standards for many Chinese students residing in Queens. In the New York Primary Election on April 19th, 2016, it is confirmed that a majority of Chinese in Queens voted for the Democratic Party since there were 24,966 votes in the Democratic Party, as opposed to the 4,014 votes in the Republican Party. In addition, many Chinese favored candidates that are supportive on topics that consist of affordable health care, jobs, and the economy (Peters).
