Colin Larkins argued that Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was an album that revolutionized, changed and re-invented the boundaries of modern popular music (Larkins, 1994). In light of the facts that were pointed out in this essay, Larkins' statement seems to be correct. To go even further in this consideration, it can be argued that the Beatles revolutionized popular music, and popular culture as well. From music industry standard practices to new recording techniques, right through to fashion, the Beatles profoundly changed the sixties, and are still a huge influence to many people today.…
Thee Midniters had a remarkable balance of R&B and British rock on stage and in their music. After all, they have toured with such groups as Sonny and Cher, Herman and the Hermits, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Righteous Brothers, James Brown, The Temptations, and Santana. Many of their records have been reproduced illegally to this day which is proof of the reputation of the band. They remained in East L.A. because at the time East L.A. was considered Liverpool’s sister city and so it was a nascent scene. According to my music industry sources they confirmed that it was pretty much like Carnaby Street in London.…
But they were replaced. They released their first album actually credited to them in 1975. That’s the album the song “Lively Up Yourself” was on which was popular for him opening many concerts…
The book, The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, begins with Cassie's Sullivan describing flashbacks in her life. She starts with small memories like her father gifting her a telescope and then shifts to thinking of how she wishes she was still the person she was before, the one that hadn't killed people, quite a dramatic change. So far in the book, I have read about the first three waves. The first wave destroys all the electronics on earth, the second destroys most of the world itself and the third one is a virus that kills of about seven billion people. These waves are caused by aliens.…
The main argument in Kenneth Bindas in the article; “The Future is Unwritten’:The Clash, Punk, and America, 1977-1982” was about the economic difficulties in the 1970s and punk music being upset about it. Additionally, like hip hop, punk was emerged through an economic decline and dislocation of the 1970s (PowerPoint, Slide 15: 1970s). The music groups expressed the challenges they faced though the hard times information the music listening public about it all. I can only agree that the attitude of earlier punk bands presented a way against music and political life. A quote from the article, “The Future is Unwritten” was “By the mid 1970s the lack of innovation and stagnant economy was emerging and punk’s music sounded angry rather than problem…

The purpose of this research paper is to compare and evaluate youth subcultures between Britain and the United States in the 1950’s. At the time, a post-war economic shift resulted in the manifestation of many subcultures. Thanks to an expanding market of consumerism and a decline in post-war rationing after World War II, young people had the money to spend on fashion and entertainment. The two main subcultures we will analyze in this report are the Teddy boys of Britain, and the “punks” of American society. With the development of rock n roll music and a desire to rebel against the common order, both subcultures were characterized by anti-establishment views and a distinctive style that older generations found aggressive and threatening.…
a. Eric Jaffe lends the idea that the popular bands of the late sixties and early seventies, like The Who, helped to give a certain sound to the first punk bands. b. He also says that it is possible that teens of the mid-seventies were getting tired of the "absurdity of stage shows that rock and roll had turned to". He uses the example of Alice Cooper, whose shows consisted of garish make-up, live boa constrictors, and toy dolls meeting their death in electric chairs and gallows. Because of this, teens tried to make a new scene and genre of music that shied away from such tactics.…
