TOP 5 NBA TECHNOLOGIES

Officials in the NBA use digital whistles, and this allows the time to automatically stop as soon as the whistle is blown. This adds an extreme amount of precision to the game of basketball. The next awesome technology in the NBA is DLP Cubes. These are cubes that display banner graphics, ads, and scores of other NBA games. The NBA also uses clear LCD's for all of their shot clocks. The next technology may be the best out of all of them. The NBA is currently working on digitizing all of their archives, and storing them as Windows Media files. Lastly, the NBA is starting to cater to their fans with all of the massive HD TV's that can be seen in NBA arenas.

Way back in the day, players had to search through their playbooks in a three-ringed binder. Now, all players have to do is search through their tablet, and they can find all of the plays. The new Levi's Stadium, which welcomes the 49ers, is the next technology as it will support 40 times better bandwidth than any other U.S stadium. The Jacksonville Jaguars hold the fourth technology, as they have they largest video boards in the entire NFL. New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has been a strong proponent of an NFL end-zone replay camera. As of now, there is no end-zone replay camera, rather there is only a sideline camera. Although the sideline camera gives replay officials a decent perspective of the football play being reviewed, the sideline replay camera is not always perfectly reliable and sometimes the replay officials make the incorrect call. Belichick believes that if there was an end-zone replay camera as well as a sideline replay camera, then the NFL referees would have another perspective when viewing a replay, which would make the NFL officials' play rulings both more accurate and precise. According to NFL owners and the league, Bill Belichick ranted endlessly…

The football that we see in the National Football League (NFL) is the same as the Canadian Football League (CFL), but with different teams and rules. In the NFL, a team has four chances to get a first down (getting the ball ten yards), but in the CFL they only get three chances. Not only is the amount of downs different, but so are the amount of players on the field. In the NFL, there are eleven players on the field, opposed to the CFL, where there are twelve! In the CFL, they can fit twelve people onto the field easier because the field is bigger than the NFL’s field.…

The NFL needs to improve on how team doctors are evaluating players after injury along with stopping the bribing of players with money. The NFL should also continue its research on concussions and brain/head complications later in life to see how much they are connected. I believe the NFL needs to take charge and implement new policies that can help prevent concussions and gruesome injuries to players. In the future the NFL could make practices safer by eliminating contact drills. They could also reevaluate techniques of tackling and blocking, and rules governing the game.…

Sporting events would not be where they are at today, if it was not for new media. New media is defined as “the emergence of digital, computerized, or networking information and communication technologies in the later part of the twentieth century” ((Masteralexis, Barr, & Hurns, 2012, p. #442). What new media means to me is, a way to connect the fans in a way that brings in a bigger audience. By providing streaming videos with smart devices, on line information, and instant updates on any team gives the fans everything they need to know to stay informed about their teams progress. This allows people to go about their day and still be entertained with not just sports, but anything worldwide.…
