As I am preparing to become a new graduate nurse, I have learned that full engagement with patient’s care aids a nurse to acknowledge deterioration of a patient. I have trained myself to read clinical notes and listen to handover attentively. Also, being alert and analytic when handling patients will help me in prioritising and planning their care. At this stage, I still need to enhance my problem solving skill and critical thinking as these are important to be able to address the specific needs of each patient. This can be achieved throughout my nursing career as being expose to different illnesses can provide more knowledge that I can use in delivering excellent nursing care.
