The New England Seafood Festival is an event organized to create an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment for all that attend while promoting the New England culture and the wonderful taste of its seafood. As the event planners we are considerable concerned about the safety of all guest and their ability to participate in every aspect of the event. To address the community of our patrons that will require special accommodations we have addressed the areas of entrances and temporary ramps. Accessible parking spaces, the escorting disabled individuals around the event, barricades, and restrooms. With these considerations the planning committee will provide a safe and enjoyable event for all.

“The passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is another step in the process toward creating an environment where people with disabilities can move and function as freely in society as people who have no disability” (Young, n.d, para.2). Therefore, the Cape Cod resort and convention center guest services department and the event staff will handle the duties of providing escort services for the ADA guest in attendance. In conjunction with the guest services department at the Cape Cod resort and convention center, the New England Seafood Festival will provide wheelchairs, and wheelchair storage for the patrons needing escorting assistance. The New England Seafood Festival will provide wheelchair escorts for our ADA patrons to their designated seating area. If a patron desires to make use of regular seating, we will provide wheelchair upon request. The guest services staff members will be available at all points of entrance to provide this service. 17). During the New England Seafood Festival barricades will be used to guide guest into and around the event. The barricades will also be positioned to keep guest out of areas that are potentially unsafe these areas will consist of loading, receiving and mechanical areas. Vendors will use barriers to section off their particular operating areas.
The staff of the New England Seafood Festival will ensure all barricades meet the criteria set in The Planning Guide for Making Temporary Events Accessible to People with Disabilities (ADA National Network, 2015) that barricades will look intentional, be heavy enough to remain stable during inclement weather, and resists vandalism. We will ensure there is a 32-inch opening in the barricade that will remain clear so people using wheelchairs may pass through but vehicles may not pass through in locations that traffic is authorized to pass
