New England Rehabilitation Hospital is a large inpatient rehabilitation hospital specializing in rehabilitation for many conditions, such as neurological disorders, spinal cord injury, stroke, amputations, brain injury, stroke, and orthopedic conditions. The facility offers outpatient services as well. Upon first sight, I was surprised with the size of the building. It is much larger than I had expected, and the same goes for the interior. The inpatient lobby is large, with high ceilings and a lot of room to move. I noticed both an empty wing of patient rooms just off of the lobby, as well as a patient dining room full of dining sets with white tablecloths. Inpatient patients receiving occupational therapy are housed on the second floor, where they have easy access to a gym and different activity rooms where group sessions are held in the afternoons. All patient rooms have bathrooms with toilets and sinks. There is a “bathing room” located by the main desk inside the patient wing. The facility was very quiet on Wednesday but the rain was audible; this may have contributed to the low noise level.
