New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Analysis

New Birth Missionary Baptist Church is a megachurch Pastor by Bishop Eddie Long and, a part of DeKalb County, Georgia. The church found out a piece of information about their Bishop in that rocked then to their very core causing tremendous internal and external conflict. The Bishop was accused of accused of Homosexual abuse. He allegedly tried to coerce four men into sexual relations.
The church, New Birth, believes that their church community is “not only saving souls, but making disciples for the work of the ministry”. At New Birth, Bishop Long is most loved for being the ‘father of many’ – a pastor who loves God, God’s people, and who speaks life and declares, You shall NOT die but live to proclaim the goodness of the Lord!” Bishop Eddie Long is still upheld today as one of the pioneers of charismatic mega churches as he continues to Pastor New Birth.

Putting aside pride which feeds conflict. It is a great thing to teach people how to deal with things in a way which honors God. That is why He wrote our way of escape (Philippians 4:2-9). New Birth as a church community went through a process as they moved forward in their ministry and with their Pastor. As fellow churches across the nation prayed for them. His members staggered through the process to rebuild. The board took over administratively and the members aligned firm to help restore their fallen Pastor and brother in Christ. It would appear the New Birth church community had privy to our current lesson and appeared to use weapons ordained by God such as prayer and fasting, keeping the doors of communication open, seeking and heeding wise counsel, formulating a restoration plan, and intentionally interjecting a temporary interim to help New Birth rebirth empowered and ready to continue the work of God assigned to them and their
