The city of New Albany, and New Albany High School are in need of better outreach programs and services to people living with mental illness. According to the National Institute of Mental Health “tens of millions of people each year” are affected by mental illnesses. However only “half of the people with mental illness receive treatment”(National Institute of Mental Health). Meaning that residents of New Albany could be in need of help, and treatment. There is also an evident need for mental health programs at New Albany High School. Due to the fact that “1 in 5 children ages 13-18 have, or will have a serious mental illness” which is cause for concern(National Institute of Mental Health).
