Never Give Up Theme

A theme is something that the author want you to learn. For example; if your book is about a kid who was cut from the football team, but still worked at it and tried out again the next year; you could say the the theme is ‘Never Give up’. In the novel, The Seventh Wish By Kate Messner, there are two clear themes. Sadness is often found in homes, but some people also make room for happiness, is one of my themes. Another theme is on page 121, “ God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference”. This theme showed up many times throughout my novel. It shows up on page 65 when it says, “ As I walk past Leah, she picks up her dance bag, and a laminated card fell out and drifts to the floor. It has an ocean scene and a poem or something on it.” It does not say what the poem is but when I read on I found out that her mother goes to the AA where Charlie's sister goes. The card that fell out was a card that the AA gives to the patient and their families with the prayer on them. “ God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the diffrence”(page 121). At this point in the story Charlie is a Forest Hills with her family to drop Abby off at the rehab place and she got bored while her parents filled out paperwork, so she started reading signs that were hung up and of them had an ocean scene and said“ God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference”, so she read it and thought about what it
