Had they stayed they might not have ever made it out alive. This was one of the challenges they faced. They wanted their freedom and they took a chance that could have killed them.Their desire to have freedom pushed them past their limits. Next, the Logans Run states, “The rocket was climbing on a golden flame, bound out and away for Darkside. And SANCTUARY.” (147) This shows you should never give up because during the entire novel Logan and Jess want to make it to sanctuary. They took chances that could have killed them and they solved problems that seemed almost impossible. In the end it all payed off. The risks they took got them to sanctuary. They never gave up on anything and that is why they are still alive. To them while giving up was an option they knew if they didn’t try they were certain to die. Their desire to live and knowing they might die either way also helped push them to at least try and live. Finally in Logans Run it states, “Logan measured the pack with his eyes. He could summon the car in another five minutes. How do you buy five minutes? He'd take out the blocky cub to his right first and then go for Charming Billy if nothing else

To comfort her,Mrs. Carter says: “Sometimes you can do everything right and things will still go wrong. The Key is to never stop doing right”(150). Giving up can better be defined as the ceasing of belief that something you wish to happen might be possible. In the autobiography Night written by Elie Wiesel, a Jew during World War II, who was sent to a concentration camp, we witness an example of a prisoner of war giving up. Wiesel has strength until the very end of his journey and right before liberation by the americans he looses hope as his father passes away. In life, many prisoners give up hope because of the fear they will never see their loved ones or old life again, little is done to console them and conditions are often harder and rougher than those of their more privileged prior life and with their lack of freedom it is difficult to adjust to the new normal: their lives in captivity, and hope can be lost because of religious discouragements . However, as a person in bondage having a reliable something or someone to put faith and trust in can be motivation enough to ‘keep hope alive’.…
