School is the beginning of our adventure through life. It not only teaches us the mandatory lessons needed but also ones that stick to us throughout life. Whether it was that one extraordinary teacher or the one everyone hated, students would still learn and use it to their advantage. Unfortunately, this was the mindset of teenagers/ young adult’s years ago; now the students of today aren’t understanding the value of their education and how far it can take them.…

By viewing On the Way to School and reading “This School’s Gone Down Hill,” it has been made clear that education is both a right and a privilege. Education is a right in that every person deserves and every person should have the means necessary to make their way to school and be successful in their educational career. As the children in the movie On the Way to School experienced, some people have to travel hours to school every day or week because they want an education. On the contrary, education is a privilege, especially higher education, because it is possible to be successful without an official education. The presumption can be made that the children in the movies parents did not attend school, yet lived their lives and were able to have children and find ways to send their children to school.…
There are many benefits for people from low socioeconomic statuses to attend college. It could change their lifestyle; it could earn them more knowledge, give them more opportunities in the real world. However, like everything else in life, nothing is guaranteed. When coming from a low socioeconomic status attending college could have some downfalls. For one college could be too expensive and sometimes difficult to pay back the loans, and one might not be able to understand the teaching structure.…
In today's society many people don't appreciate what they have. All the little things and even the big things are taken for granted. We don't realize that not so long ago life was very different. During the times of the holocaust people were separated from their families, children were starving, and for many, education wasn't really an option. I was able to interview a holocaust survivor that taught me and continues to teach me how grateful i have to be for all that i have, my grandfather.…
Clinical Neuropsychologist help people with their problems, while also studying the brain diseases and its illnesses. Clinical Neuropsychologist participate in education programs like in-service training and workshops to keep updated on new methods and techniques used (careeronestop.org). It is important to know relevant methods because if a neuropsychologist is testing a technique and discovers something new, staying involved in workshops or in-service training will help you comprehend that information better. Clinical Neuropsychologist also distinguishes between psychogenic and neurogenic syndrome (careeronestop.org). Theses are a necessity because, if you cannot learn the difference why waste time on something you are not good at and do…
Neurosurgeon, a doctor that specializes in the nervous system, is a career I want to pursue for the reward of helping others, the ability to work with the brain, and the helpful benefits. It was actually recent that I became interested in this job. I thought that I would be an OB/GYN to work with pregnancy, but I realized that I was not interested in doing that. Then it hit me. I love the brain.…
How much of a toll does education have on our future? During the summer before my freshman year of college, my grandfather got diagnosed with stage 4 Colon and Liver Cancer. This was such a tragedy for my family, especially my grandfather who is still so young. To watch someone you love become so sick only makes you want to help them in any way possible. Having such a tragedy strike in my family only motivated me to do better in school.…
I grew up in a white family of five people. I have two siblings both boys and older than I. At a very young age I was taught that girls belong in the house cooking and cleaning and boys belong outside. Both my parents worked very long days and very long weeks. When I was old enough to clean the house I was given chores that needed to be completed every day my brothers didn’t have to do anything around the house.…
Did you know that every time musicians pick up their instruments, there are fireworks going off all over their brain? On the outside, they may look calm and focused, reading the music and making the precise and practiced movements required. But inside their brains, there's a party going on. How do we know this? Well, in the last few decades, neuroscientists have made enormous breakthroughs in understanding how our brains work by monitoring them in real time with instruments like fMRI and PET scanners.…
School had a big impact on me though. I found who my real friends are, I realized who was and was not there for me, and I found out which teachers really cared about other students, including myself. I will never forget about one teacher that I met my senior year. She helped me a lot. I lost myself during part of my high school years and I always ran to that teacher for help and advice.…
During adolescence, I lived in a rather posh town. Due to my geographical location when I was born I was placed at an advantage due to the fact that my school was well funded. One advantage that we had was a fully operational computer lab that was open before, during, and after school. My school was one of many literary sponsors that enabled me to research code. While they did not directly tell me to research code, they provided me with a space to work to expand upon and literary knowledge I chose.…
I think the ease and simplicity of childhood caused to become a dreamer; I wanted things to be just as easy as the posters made it seem. Maybe I just wasn’t ready to grow up at the time, and then you’re hit pretty hard with reality learning that its not all fun and games anymore. You’re hit even harder when you realize you can work just as hard as the person sitting next to you in class but because of their race or their gender, they’ll go onto better things. I think my education shaped me for the real world, because my classmates are the same people I would go on to work with in my future. You learn these life lessons like to be respectful, or that hard work pays off, but you also learn that that’s always not the case, you experience things like racism, and sexism and how they’ll grow to be a part of your everyday life, you learn social hierarchy and that your boss like your teacher is in charge.…
Many influences led me to being the person and student I am today. Different people and experiences have had an impact on me, including family, teachers, books, and my own feelings. Education is very important and I am thankful for the lessons I have been taught. Learning and knowledge are the foundations on which a great personality, and life, can be built.…
I’m Over This Anthropology As anthropology goes, culture can be expanded in multiple ways. It can be considered linguistic, ethnology and archaeology but also material and non-material culture. Material culture consists of things that you can touch and are given significance in society. On the other hand, there is a non-material culture which consists of behaviours, values and beliefs, ideas language, myths, family patterns and political systems shared within a society. both are influenced by past and present cultures; the present being formed by the past.…
