Neurology Personal Statement

As far as I remember, I have been eager to learn. I was always interested in scientific facts about human physiology and anatomy, with increased fascination on the nature of human brain. This interested has been with me for years. As a young child, I saw a revolution followed by eight years of war and destruction and how these things can effect the human body and mind. It pained me to see how both young and old suffered through those hard times. So many people lost their lives, and so many other living souls suffered lots of neurological deficits afterward with few resources to help them cope with their problems. Seeing all these, as a young student of biology, I started to research the effects of mustard gas on the genetic blueprints of exposed people. My team and I had more than enough volunteers coming back from war that had started having children with numerous disabilities not shown in their family history. Unfortunately, my political views always clashed with that of central government, and as a result I was struggling to keep up with my classes and to keep myself in the program long enough to graduate. With so little knowledge in neurology in primary care, I decided to expand my understanding of this subspecialty and try to give as much as I can to my patients. Since my ultimate goal is to work in neurology, I believe with further study in neuroscience, I will better understand my patients’ neurological problems and will try to help them to best of my knowledge specially. I understand that I can only expand my knowledge into just small portion of the field, but I think it would still help me to solve many of my patients’ problems in the primary care settings and
